The production of Australia Wine is increasing year by year. The production of 1992 when I lived here last time was 400 Million litres, whereas that of recent years exceeds 1400 million litres. Export volume has exceeded 600 million litres (2700 million Australian dollars), ranking as one of major export food items next to wheat and meat. Main destinations are UK, USA, etc.

In the states of Victoria, where I live, the planting acreage of wine grapes are increasing in recent years. Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula areas are popular as good wine production areas near Melbourne.

There are some small scaled wineries called "boutique wineries" which produce good wines. Most such wineries are owned by keen wine makers who concentrate in good wine making by using their plenty time and skills.
